Zitat:Iran represents a deathblow to US global hegemony
Fri Apr 12, 2013 6:39PM GMT
...
The US in 2013 is a very different animal from what it was in 1945. Now it resembles more a lumbering giant. Gone is its former economic prowess and its arteries are sclerotic with its
internal social decay and malaise. Crucially, too, the lumbering American giant has squandered any moral strength it may have had in the eyes of the world. Its veil of morality and democratic principle may have appeared credible in 1945, but that cover has been torn asunder by the countless wars and nefarious intrigues over the ensuing decades to reveal a pathological warmonger.

The American military power is still, of course, a highly dangerous force. But it is now more like a bulging muscle hanging on an otherwise emaciated corpse. Iran presents this lumbering, dying power with a fatal challenge.

Zitat:Formerly Banned Iranian Group Opens Office Near White House

WASHINGTON -- Until not long ago the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) was on the list of the U.S. State Department's terrorist organizations. On April 11, that seemed like a distant memory as the group celebrated the opening of its Washington office just a block away from the White House, with tea and Iranian snacks.
...
U.S. officials have said that they don't consider the MKO a viable Iranian opposition group or believe it can promote democratic values in Iran.

The group, which many Iranians dislike because it sided with Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War, is widely seen in the country as a cult with reportedly rigid rules for its members.

Yet at the April 11 reception, speakers were full of praise, describing the MKO as an organization that reflects the views of the Iranian people and is capable of bringing democratic change to the country.

Among those speaking was President Barack Obama's former national security adviser, U.S. General James Jones. He said the opening of the office was an "important moment" and "a step in the right direction."

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P.J. Crowley, former U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy, and the former deputy director of the CIA's National Clandestine Service, John Sano, were also in attendance.

Wie jetzt? Terroristen dürfen sich in den USA betätigen? Ist ja was ganz neues.

Zitat:US, allies to hold military exercise in Persian Gulf
Wed May 1, 2013 7:52PM GMT

The United States and over 30 of its allies, including Britain and most of the Arab kingdoms, are planning to hold a military exercise in the Persian Gulf, Press TV reports.

Washington claims the drill, which is reportedly scheduled to be held on May 6-30, is aimed at practicing minesweeping and the protection of commercial vessels, while political analysts in Russia describe the move as a provocation to Iran ahead of its upcoming presidential election, which is scheduled to be held on June 14.

The participants in the so-called International Mine Countermeasures Exercise will gather in Bahrain.

“They [the US officials] know that Iran will not carry out aggression acts but they want to turn the Arab countries against Iran and isolate it on a mass scale,” said Geydar Jemal, the head of the Islamic Committee of Russia.

Zitat:Iran ‘behind US cyber blitz’
by Agency Staff, May 19 2013, 18:23

WASHINGTON — The series of cyber attacks that repeatedly knocked major US banking websites offline in the past nine months had been more powerful than the public realised, government officials and security experts told the Reuters Cybersecurity Summit on Friday.

A self-described activist group, Cyber Fighters of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, has claimed credit for the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks that took down the websites of more than a dozen US banks for hours or even days at a time.

Members of congressional intelligence committees said the attacks were sponsored by Iran and showed its growing capability in cyberspace.

Zitat:Iranian Cyber-Attackers Target US Energy Companies

May 25, 2013 4:00 PM EST 0 Comments
By Fahmida Y. Rashid

Cyber-attackers backed by the Iranian government have breached and infiltrated several US-based energy companies in an ongoing campaign, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Iranian cyber-attackers launched a series of infiltration and surveillance missions against energy companies in the United States, and successfully accessed control-system software they could have used to manipulate oil or gas pipelines, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. The attackers have collected information on the control systems and "acquired the means" to disrupt or destroy these systems in the future, current and former officials said, according to the report.

They got "far enough to worry people," a former official told the Journal.

Zitat:US imposes sanctions on Iranian petrochemical companies
Fri May 31, 2013 11:56PM GMT

The United States has imposed more unilateral sanctions on Iran by blacklisting a number of petrochemical companies in the Islamic Republic.

The US Treasury Department issued a statement on Friday, announcing sanctions against eight Iranian petrochemical companies.

The Treasury Department blacklisted Bou Ali Sina, Mobin, Nouri, Pars, Shahid Tondgouyan, Shazand, Tabriz and Imam petrochemical companies.

The US also imposed separate sanctions on Niksima Food and Beverage JLT, a frozen yogurt company based in the United Arab Emirates, saying the company has been engaged in a transaction for the purchase of petrochemical products from Iran.

Zitat:'US in no position to accuse other states of supporting terrorism’

Spokesman for Iran's UN mission in New York Ali-Reza Miryousefi says the US is in no position to accuse other countries of supporting terrorism.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is a victim of state terrorism which has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Iranians,” Miryousefi was quoted as saying on Friday.

In its annual "Country Reports on Terrorism" for 2012, the US State Department accused Iran, Cuba, Sudan and Syria of supporting terrorist activities.
...
In September 2012, the MKO was taken off the US State Department’s blacklist, and opened an office near the White House in Washington for the first time in 11 years in April 2013.

The MKO has carried out numerous acts of violence against Iranian civilians and government officials.

Out of the 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, some 12,000 of them have fallen victim to the acts of terror carried out by the MKO.
