BiH Might Deploy Its Troops to a Peacekeeping Mission in Iraq
“BiH troops could depart this fall to Iraq where they would participate in a peacekeeping mission,” confirmed BiH Regular Committee For Military Issues Secretary General, Enes Becirevic. He said that the unit would be comprised of one platoon of RS troops and two platoons of FBiH troops. However, more frequent incidents in Iraq will play an important role when deciding whether the troops with BiH insignia will be a part of the peacekeeping mission in Iraq. BiH Presidency makes a decision on deployment of BiH troops to peacekeeping missions and Becirevic says he thinks that the decision will not be made before the autumn. “Until then, we have to find modalities for the deployment of troops. We have to know if we can finance that mission and some other details,” stressed Becirbasic. –ds/ao
