“If we get to a point where the military believes that they are truly on the verge of getting a nuclear weapon, I would be prepared to use military force,” Gingrich said.
“I think our goal should be to replace the regime,” he added. “I think if you just take out the plants and the dictatorship stays there, the plants come back.”
The former House Speaker said he would “sadly agree to military action” as a last resort, but would first promote covert activities, including cyber warfare, to bring down the regime.
“We could wage real cyber warfare against Iran and probably be remarkably effective at closing it down,” Gingrich said.

Romney: Why I'd be better for Israel than Obama
Washington (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will reaffirm his commitment to Israel as America's partner in the Middle East while accusing President Barack Obama of hindering peace in the region, according to excerpts released ahead of his speech Wednesday before the Republican Jewish Coalition.
The former Massachusetts governor will take the president to task for criticizing Israel, not saying enough about the thousands of Hamas rockets fired into the country and his support for Israel to adopt "indefensible borders."
"These actions have emboldened Palestinian hard-liners who now are posed to form a unity government with terrorist Hamas and feel they can bypass Israel at the bargaining table," Romney will say at the forum in Washington, D.C. "President Obama has immeasurably set back the prospect of peace in the Middle East."
Romney is expected to say that as president he will warn other countries in the region that aggressive action against Israel will be "futile and that continuing it will cost them dearly."
