A senior Iraqi cleric has urged the Iraqi army and volunteers fighting against the ISIL militants to respect the rights of all Iraqis.
Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai speaking on behalf of Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani said the rights of Iraqis should be respected regardless of their ethnicity or political affiliation.
Al-Karbalai is a representative of top Shia cleric Ayatollah al-Sistani.
At a Friday prayer sermon, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai called on Iraqis to unite in the face of terrorist attacks against the country.

Ich verstehe das als Kritik an Maliki und dem gehen damit langsam die Verbündeten aus. Derweil nutzen die Kurden offenbar das Chaos um sich weitere Bodenschätze zu sichern. Sehr zum Unmut der irakischen Regierung. Die wäre eigentlich genötigt, die Ölquellen wieder zurück zu erobern, kann das aber sicher militärisch nicht leisten. Darauf basiert auch das Kalkül der Kurden, macht die Situation aber langfristig nur noch komplizierter.

Iraqi Oil Ministry has slammed semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) over seizure of at least two key oil fields near the northern city of Kirkuk.
