Angriff auf Universität: Dschihadisten nehmen Hunderte Geiseln

Sie stürmten die Universität, töteten Wachleute, sprengten die Brücke am Haupteingang in die Luft: Dschihadisten haben in der irakischen Stadt Ramadi Hunderte Studenten und Professoren als Geiseln genommen. Der Angriff wurde gewaltsam beendet.

Ramadi - Radikalislamische Kämpfer haben die Universität in der zentralirakischen Stadt Ramadi überfallen und stundenlang Hunderte Studenten und Professoren festgehalten. Die bewaffneten Anhänger der militanten Gruppierung Islamischer Staat im Irak und der Levante (ISIL) drangen nach Angaben der Polizei am Samstagmorgen in die Al Anbar-Hochschule ein, töteten Wachleute und sprengten eine Brücke, die zum Haupteingang des Gebäudes führte. Nach Informationen des irakischen Staatsfernsehens waren 25 Dschihadisten an dem Angriff beteiligt, einige von ihnen sollen Sprengstoffgürtel getragen haben.

Sondereinsatztruppen und Soldaten rückten an und stürmten die Universität. Nach Angaben des Staatsfernsehens wurden alle Geiseln gewaltsam befreit. Wie viele Menschen bei der Aktion getötet wurden und wie viele Geiseln genommen worden waren, war zunächst nicht bekannt. Angaben von Polizisten, wonach die Dschihadisten bis zu 2500 Menschen in ihrer Gewalt hatten, ließen sich zunächst nicht überprüfen.

Report: Qatar, Saudi Arabia Pay Monthly Salaries to Militants in Fallujah

TEHRAN (FNA)- The foreign-backed militants fighting against the Iraqi government in the Western parts of the Arab country are receiving monthly salaries in cash from Riyadh and Doha, media reports said.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants fighting against the Iraqi government in the city of Fallujah in Anbar Province in Western Iraq receive a monthly salary of USD 700 from the governments of Riyadh and Doha, the Iraq Al-Qanoun news website quoted member of Fallujah Liberation Council Maki Al-Issawi as saying.

A sum of 34 militant groups stationed in Fallujah carry out constant attacks on the government buildings and officials and civilians in Iraq. The militant groups are at odds with each other over the salaries they receive from the foreign countries, the report added.
