The incidents occurred on Sunday evening when 1,500 protesters tried to march to Salem Street. Meanwhile, security forces blocked their progress, sparking the clashes.
On Saturday, Sulaymanieh University students staged a demonstration over poverty and unemployment, as well as financial and administrative corruption.
Some four people have so far died and around 70 sustained injuries during the demonstrations, which started on Thursday, calling for the ouster of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) president.

The office of an independent television channel in the Iraqi city of Sulaymanieh has been torched after broadcasting live footage of protests against the Kurdish government.
At least 50 masked gunmen in military uniforms attacked the Nalia Radio and Television channel station shortly after midnight on Sunday.
