Zitat:Iranian navy upgrades frigate's air defences

The Iranian Jamaran-class frigate Sahand (74) has been upgraded with a new air-defence system, it was revealed when President Ebrahim Raisi boarded the ship during a visit to Jask on 27 November. Photographs of the event showed the new rotating radar with a single phased-array antenna on top of the frigate's bridge. This is presumably a new target engagement radar as it still had its previous Plessey-type air search radar mounted higher on its mast.

A new rotating launcher has also been added in front of the bridge that was fitted with three of missile canisters normally used with the 15 Khordad and Talash ground-based air-defence systems. These could be for either Sayyad-2 or Sayyad-3 surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), with the latter having a claimed maximum range of 120 km.

Zitat:Iran Building 4th Missile Catamaran, And New Stealth Version Launched

Flag Iran Double OSINT (open source intelligence) news on the IRGC's (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp). Analysis of satellite imagery of the Qeshm Madkandaloo Shipbuilding Cooperative Co. shipyard, on the island of Qeshm, suggests that a new Shahid Soleimani class missile corvette is under construction there. This should be the 4th hull of the class. At the same time, the first of another new class seen there appears to have been launched. This analysis is based on the relative sizes of the two types.

Dezember 2022

[Bild: http://www.opex360.com/wp-content/upload...221226.jpg]

Zitat:Iranian Navy Sending Ships to Panama Canal, Says Commander

The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy is sending ships to the Panama Canal, according to an article published in state-run media Friday.

The Iranian Navy has yet to operate in two straits in the world, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said Wednesday at a navy ceremony, according to Tehran Times. One of them is the Panama Canal. Irani did not identify the other strait but said the Iran Navy would operate in it this year. Irani did not lay out a similar timeline for when ships may head to the Panama Canal.

“Today, if my comrades are approaching the shores of the American continent, they are showing signs of the authority of dear Iran,” Irani said. “As a showcase for the dear people of our country, we appeared in the Pacific Ocean for the first time. Of course, along this route, Australia and the French created threats for us and tried to violate the laws they had approved to cross their coasts. But we answered them with authority and according to the law.” [...]

While Irani did not specify what ships would travel to the vicinity of the Panama Canal, two Iranian Navy ships deployed last year and have been operating in the Pacific. Frigate IRIS Dena and IRINS Makran, Iran’s largest warship, made a port call in Jakarta, Indonesia, and was tracked by the French Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.

Also "created threats" liest sich nun erstmal etwas dramatisch.

Zitat:IRGC Takes Delivery of Warship Based on a Panamax Boxship

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has taken delivery of a lightly-converted container ship, which it will deploy in service as an expeditionary base ship.

Until recently, the newly-delivered Shahid Mahdavi was the IRISL container ship Sarvin. Sarvin (ex name Sarita, Dandle, Twelfth Ocean, Iran Isfahan) is a 23-year-old Panamax boxship with a nominal capacity of 3,300 TEU. She was transferred from the government-owned container line for use as a mobile logistics platform for military purposes and repainted in haze gray. [...]

The base ship idea has already been taken up by the Iranian Navy, which converted an Aframax tanker into the giant "forward base ship" Makran in 2021. At 105,000 dwt, the Makran ranks among the largest naval vessels in the world by tonnage. Not to be outdone, the IRGC is converting two Panamax boxships into base ships of its own. In January, photos analyzed by H.I. Sutton appear to indicate that one of these ships is being fitted with a giant, overhanging deck on her port side, potentially for use in launching attack drones - an Iranian specialty. [...]

According to state outlet Tasnim, the Mahdavi is fitted with 3D radar, missile systems, antiship missiles and the Sevom Khordad truck-mounted air defense missile system, Iran's best medium-range SAM system.

Zitat:Iran completes construction of three Fateh class submarines hulls

According to information published by Tasnim News on April 20, 2023, the Iranian Navy has produced three new models of its domestically-made Fateh submarine. The second, third, and fourth hulls have been constructed and are currently being furnished. [...]

The Fateh class is a semi-heavy submarine with a displacement of 527 tons when surfaced and 593 tons when submerged. It has a length of 48 meters (157 feet) and is powered by BLDC (Diesel-electric) propulsion. The submarine has a maximum speed of 11 knots (20 km/h) when surfaced and 14 knots (26 km/h) when submerged. The Fateh class submarine has a range of 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km) at 8 knots (15 km/h) while snorkeling and can remain at sea for up to 35 days.

She has a test depth of 250 meters and is equipped with 11 retractable sensors, including an electro-optical mast and an optical periscope. [...] In terms of armament, the Fateh class submarine is equipped with six torpedoes/cruise missiles (four 533mm torpedo tubes) and eight sea mines. It also has electronic warfare capabilities and decoys.

Zitat:Iran commissions replacement Caspian frigate

The Northern Fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN) officially received its new frigate on 27 November, nearly six years after its previous one sank in an accident.

IRINS Deylaman (78) was formally inducted into service in Bandar-e Anzali on the Caspian, with photographs showing the event took place at one of the port's grain terminals, not at the IRIN base where it was built. Deylaman replaces Damavand (77), the second of Iran's locally built Jamaran-class frigates, which sank after hitting the breakwater around Bandar-e Anzali during a storm in January 2018.

Satellite imagery shows the first section of the hull for a replacement had appeared in the dry dock at the base by October 2018. Until recently, IRIN officers referred to the new ship as Damavand, and it had the number 77 painted on top of its bridge and helicopter flight deck until October, when this was changed to 78, indicating it was recently renamed after a town close to Bandar-e Anzali.
