Oder ist ein clevere Finanzstategie? :hand:

Zitat:AMS: Key Supplier for the Newly Launched FREMM Programme

The FREMM programme is a cooperative programme between the Italian and French Navies for the supply of 27 (10 to Italy, 17 to France) New Generation Multi-mission Frigates (Anti Submarine Warfare-ASW, Land Attack, Multipurpose) that will be in service in the next decade.

Within this programme AMS will have an important role as major supplier of leading-edge technology based on the last generation systems, recently developed for two other major programmes: Horizon frigates and Cavour New Aircraft Carrier of the Italian Navy. This approach, along with the FREMM development, will secure coherence and continuity of systems supplied which will in turn result in significant benefit on vessels life-cycle (training, spare parts, future upgrading, etc) with substantial cost reduction.

Furthermore, the Combat Management Systems which are being installed on the Cavour carrier, the Horizon Frigates and FREMM Frigates will secure a total interoperability. AMS will also be the leading supplier of the multifunctional radar EMPAR (the heart of the missile systems), the new generation IFF radar, the RAN 30X/I medium range radar, the Inner Layer Defence System based on the NA-25 Fire Control System, together with the Dual Weapon Assignment Logic Unit (DWALU).

The difference between the Italian and French versions of FREMM vessels strictly complies with different operative requirements outlined by the two Navies.

AMS has 7,000 employees worldwide, a turnover of some 1.3 billion euros and a healthy orderbook in excess of 3 billion euros, which underpins ambitious growth plans for the next four years. AMS is a major European company in systems’ integration owned by BAE Systems of the UK and Finmeccanica of Italy, with a combined annual turnover of some 27 billion euros

Zitat:France Abandons FREMM Private Financing
By PIERRE TRAN, PARIS

France has ditched plans to use private bank financing to buy new frigates and instead will rely on its defense equipment budget, an unexpected decision that may herald spending cuts elsewhere.

“The government has decided to use a budgetary mode of financing for the multimission frigates,” Defense Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie told members of parliament at a Jan. 24 conference. “This decision opens the way for the conclusion of a contract, as expected, in the summer 2005.”

French and Italian industry had wanted to sign a contract for a first batch of 14 Frégate Européene Multi-Mission (FREMM) warships in the spring, or summer at the latest. France is slated to take eight and Italy six ships under the cooperative program.

PARIS, Oct 4 (Reuters) - A last-minute failure to agree on a major defence deal to build "stealth" frigates at a Franco-Italian summit on Tuesday threw the fate of Europe's largest single naval construction project into confusion. ...

Zitat:Franco-Italian FREMM Frigate Program in Trouble, Again
Posted 17-Oct-2005 05:25

DID has noted past issues with the bi-national Franco-Italian FREMM (Fregate Europeene Multi-Mission) program, a variant of the Horizon Class air defense frigate. Now the FREMM program has its Memorandum of Understanding delayed again, and may even risk cancellation over the Italian government's failure to include the necessary funding in its draft 2006 budget. Worse, the budget cannot be modified after its recent approval by Cabinet on Sept. 29, 2005 and pending submission to Parliament. Defense-Aerospace notes that according to Italian press reports, the financial shortfall amounts to about EUR 400 million for 2006. ...
