Es wird gemunkelt, daß die Russen ihre R33-Raketen nur mit Hilfe der iranischen Tomcat-Phoenix bauen konnten.
Der Deal mit den Mig-31 könnte der andere Teil des Geschäfts gewesen sein.
Zumal ich im Internet schon einige Quellen gefunden habe, die davon ausgehen, daß der Iran bereits
Mig-31 besitzt.

Current IRIAF aircraft procurement plans for Russian material follow initial contracts placed with the USSR, which resulted in first deliveries of 14 MiG-29 aircraft in 1990. Taking into account ex-Iraqi aircraft, orders for the further 48 MiG-29 `Fulcrums' now planned will increase the IRIAF total to around 66, plus 24 long-range MiG-31 `Foxhounds'. These will provide the basis of an effective interceptor force within Air Defence Command, backed by the Mirage F1, if the necessary spares and training can be obtained from France.

The subject matter of the transaction covered 48 MiG-29 fighters, 24 MiG-31 interceptors, 12 Tu-22M long-range bombers and two A-50 early warning and control aircraft, along with air defence (AD) assets and spares for the former Iraqi MiG-23s, MiG-29s, Su-22s, Su-24s and Su-25s. However, the contract that could have significantly influenced the alignment of forces in the Middle East never entered the implementation stage. The US Department of Defense of the United States of America and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova reached an agreement to implement the Cooperative Threat Reduction accord signed on June 23, 1997, in Moldova. The Pentagon pounced on the planes after learning Iran had inspected the jets and expressed an interest in adding them to their inventory.
Although Iran already flies the less-capable Fulcrum A, it doesn't own any of the more advanced C-models. Of the 21 Fulcrums the United States bought, 14 are the frontline Fulcrum C's, which contain an active radar jammer in its spine, six older A's and one B-model two-seat trainer.This agreement authorized the United States Government to purchase nuclear-capable MiG-29 fighter
planes from the Government of Moldova. This is a joint effort by both Governments to ensure that these dual-use military weapons do not fall into the hands of rogue states.
