Abstrus genug, dass der nördliche Teil Azerbaijans vom südlichen Teil dauerhaft getrennt worden ist. Jetzt schießen auch noch Azeris auf Azeris...
Die Darstellung der Ereignisse ist widersprüchlich:

Zitat:Iranian, Azerbaijani border guards clash, one killed
TEHRAN, July 5 (MNA) -- Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ali Abdollahi on Monday confirmed reports that a clash occurred between Iranian and Azerbaijani border guards on Sunday in which an Azerbaijani guard was killed.

“The clash happened after the border guards of the Republic of Azerbaijan illegally crossed into Iran and did not heed Iranian border guards’ order to stop,” Abdollahi stated.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast also confirmed on Tuesday that “the border guards of the Republic of Azerbaijan entered Iran, perhaps inadvertently, and ignored the Iranian guards’ order (to stop)” which led to a clash, in which “a number of people were wounded and an Azerbaijani guard was killed.”

The diplomatic apparatus of both countries are investigating the incident, he added.

Armenia, Iran, Azerbaijan: Dependence and benefits
...
“There is some tension in the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran. The Iranian side is waiting for statements that Azerbaijan will not raise the issue of Southern Azerbaijan [territory of Iran’s northern provinces], that Azerbaijan’s territory will not be used as a springboard for launching strikes against Iran. And Azerbaijan wants to hear Iran publicly support the position of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict,” writes Karabakh analyst Vardan Mamikonyan.

In its turn, independent Azerbaijani expert Togrul Sofiev stated that “Iran is trying again and again to feel the ground in Azerbaijan to make sure there is no threat to the security of its border from its northern neighbor; to get new guarantees from it.”

From time to time Baku provokes Iran to make statements about recognizing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. The latest such recognition was made in Baku by Iranian Minister of Culture Ahmed Ali Reza Beygi. He said that Iran has always supported Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict.

Nevertheless, those in Azerbaijan are dissatisfied with Iran’s behavior. In Baku, they say that Iran has ‘spoilt’ the whole effect of the blockade by Azerbaijan and Turkey against Armenia.

“During the war, Iran rendered every assistance to Armenia. And, it was through Iran that Armenia gets a considerable part of its foodstuffs and industrial goods, which makes the blockade imposed by Azerbaijan and Turkey ineffective,” says Sofiev.

The Azeri expert says that at least 20 million Iranian Azeris have no schools to study in their native language, while 250,000 Armenians in Iran have several national schools.

Aus den staatlichen Medien Aserbaidschans:

Zitat:Iran lays pipeline to Armenia via Tebriz to supress South Azerbaijanis

Mon 30 January 2012 16:56 GMT | 17:56 Local Time

Bitter realities of the world do not allow fraternal Turkey to extend effective assistance to Azerbaijan in liberation of its lands for already 22 years.
...
The party believes that the comprehensive support to aggressor Armenia is part of the anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Islam policy of the Iran’s regime and in this view, there is no sense of urge official Tehran to stop its policy:

“For this reason, we call on the Turks of South Azerbaijan to protest the anti-Azerbaijani project planned by the regime. The regime seeks to suppress South Azerbaijani Turks and frustrate our moral and mental unity and integrity by laying the pipeline to Armenia via Tebriz. We do hope that they will spare no effort for prevention of this unjust policy”.

Zitat:Iran says the two Azeri nationals who were arrested in early May have been held on the charges of espionage-related activities, Press TV reports.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, an official from Iran’s northeastern province of Azarbaijan told Press TV that the collected evidence indicates that Shahryar Hajizadeh and Farid Husseinov entered Iran under the direction of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s secret service known as MTN. They were supposed to recruit a number of dissidents in Iran to promote separatism.

The methods employed by the two agents is identical to those Israel has long been trying to implement. Israel’s recruitment and support of the extremists in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as providing the necessary funds, know-how and training for these agents before eventually dispatching them to Iran, has led to a significant increase in the political and border tensions between the two countries.
