Welchen Pharaonenschatz haben die denn ausgegraben?
Militärisch gesehen eine ziemlich sinnentleerte Investition die nur die Typenvielfalt steigert und keine neuen Fähigkeiten erschließt.
Wenn sich die ernsthaften Interessen bezüglich russischer Jets auch noch realisieren haben die da einen Zirkus beieinander auf den selbst die Saudis neidisch werden.
Die Fregatten machen wenigstens noch Sinn nachdem die Israelis ihre U-Boot-Waffe ausgebaut haben und auch neue Überwasserspielzeuge bekommen werden.

Der Rafale-Deal soll am Montag unterschrieben werden:

Reuters) - French President Francois Hollande said Egypt would order 24 Rafale fighter jets, a naval frigate and related military equipment in a deal to be signed in Cairo on Monday worth more than 5 billion euros ($5.70 billion).

The contract would make Egypt, aiming to upgrade its military hardware amid fears the crisis in neighbouring Libya could spill over, the first export customer for the warplane, built by Dassault Aviation.

France announced Thursday it will sell 24 Rafale fighters plus a frigate to Egypt in a 5 billion euro ($5.7 billion) deal that marks the first foreign contract for the multi-role combat jet.

French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian will travel to Cairo on Monday to sign the contact with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, a ministry source told AFP.

"The Rafale fighter jet has won its first export contract," French President Francois Hollande said in a statement issued by his office.

"The signing will take place in Cairo on February 16. I have asked the defence minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, to sign on behalf of France," he added.

The military hardware would "allow Egypt to increase its security and assume its full role in the service of regional stability," Hollande said.

wie allgemein bereits berichtet, soll Ägypten umfangreiche Waffenwünsche in Russland angemeldet haben. Diese Wünsche betreffen auch die Luftwaffe.
Konkret wird aus einer Meldung aus Moskau (nicht verifiziert) die Spekulation wieder gegeben, Ägypten hätte Interesse an der MiG-29 gezeigt.

It released photographs and a video showing the three aircraft landing at Cairo West Air Base and lining up with the three that were delivered in July 2015. Like the first batch, all the new ones are two-seat aircraft.

It was announced in February 2015 that Egypt had ordered 16 Rafale B two-seat and eight Rafale C single-seat aircraft. Deliveries have been expedited by transferring ones that were already being produced for the French Air Force. [...]

Anlässlich der Empfangszeremonie des Supermarinestützpunkts Jargoub und der Durchführung der Übung Qadir 2021 ließ die ägyptische Luftwaffe eine kleine Formation von Mirage 2000-Kampfbombern mit einer Lackierung und einer besonderen Bewaffnung an der Luftparade teilnehmen.

Die fünf Flugzeuge, die in Staffelformation passierten, waren frei von Markierungen. In den Flugzeugen waren weder Kokarden mit Angabe des Zugehörigkeitslandes noch Seriennummern zu sehen. Besser noch, unter den Flügeln konnte man präzisionsgelenkte Al-Tariq-Bomben sehen, die in den Emiraten vom Konglomerat Edge hergestellt wurden und tatsächlich eine Reproduktion der in Südafrika von Denel entwickelten Umbani-gelenkten Munition sind. Das kombinierte, nicht identifizierte Langstrecken-Präzisionsbombenflugzeug (120 km) bezeichnet diese Formation als verantwortlich für Spezialoperationen wie in Libyen oder angesichts zunehmender Spannungen mit Äthiopien wegen

US approves Egyptian C-130J purchase

The United States has approved the sale to Egypt of 12 Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules airlifters for USD2.2 billion.

Announced by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on 25 January, the approval covers the ‘long-bodied' C-130J-30-variant Hercules, as well as mission equipment, spares, training, and support. [...]

As noted in the approval notification, Egypt already operates a mix of legacy C-130s and so should have no difficulty absorbing these additional aircraft into its armed forces. The Egyptian Air Force (EAF) currently fields 22 C-130Hs, three C-130H-30s, and two EC-130H Hercules aircraft that were acquired from 1978, 1990, and 2001 respectively. The fleet is operated by 4 and 16 squadrons of the Cairo International Airport Transport Regiment.

Die ägyptische Luftwaffe ist der erste Rafale-Exportnutzer, der 10.000 Flugstunden erreicht hat.

Egypt looks to secure jets and missile defence

Facing threats across the region, Egypt looks to gain aerial superiority with more military fixed-wing aircraft and ground-based missile defence systems. [...]

Egypt will continue to modernise its fighter jet fleets as the republic pursues 30 additional Rafale F4 fighter jets from France, on top of the 24 units already delivered, in a deal worth $4.5bn between 2027-36.

The Egyptian Government is also seeking to acquire 46 F-15s from the US, as the US embargo of Russian military systems restricted Egypt from acquiring Sukhoi-35 jets in 2021, jets which will now go to Iran.

Ich glaube das die USA zurückhaltend wären, was einen möglichen Verkauf der F-15 an Ägypten angeht. Auf keinen Fall wollen die USA das strategische Gleichgewicht in der Region zum Nachteil Israels verändern. So weit ich weiss hat Ägypten bis jetzt für seine F-16 keine AMRAAM bekommen.

Nebenbei noch die Meldung das Ägypten Bayraktar TB-2 UCAV aus der Türkei bestellt hat.

Türkiye Exports Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to Egypt
Minister Fidan, a guest on a television program, announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will go to Egypt soon. Fidan stated that the purchase of UAVs has been on the agenda with Egypt in the new period. Minister Fidan did not share information or a schedule regarding how many units of which system would be procured.


At the December EDEX 2023 defence industry fair held in Egypt, Bayraktar TB2 Armed /UAV and AKINCI UCAV models were exhibited with the Egyptian flag and in addition to Baykar, companies from Turkey, such as ASELSAN, TUSAŞ and ROKETSAN also participated in the defence industry fair in question. Like Baykar, TUSAŞ also has Armed /UAVs with various features.
