Italy to procure Bayraktar TB3 UAVs for aircraft carrier ITS Cavour.

According to a report by Naval News, Vice Admiral Berutti Bergotto, Commander-in-Chief of the Italian Navy, announced during his first parliamentary session since taking office on November 6, 2025, that the TB3 system developed by Baykar will operate from the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour. Referencing the collaboration between Baykar and Italian industrial giant Leonardo, Bergotto stated that the procurement process would be conducted through Leonardo and that the system would be utilized for both surveillance and strike missions. “As you know, this company has signed a cooperation agreement with Leonardo; therefore, the acquisition will take place through Leonardo. This can be integrated onto the Cavour (aircraft carrier). It allows for both surveillance and the carriage of weapons,” Bergotto noted.

The procurement process will be executed through LBA Systems, a strategic joint venture established by Leonardo and Baykar, the world’s largest exporter of armed UAVs (UCAVs). This collaboration is considered the clearest indication of Italy’s intent to integrate a fixed-wing UCAV into its naval aviation component. With this move, Italy is poised to become the second customer for the TB3 after Indonesia, and its first customer in Europe.

Delivery deadlock in the US, the era of Turkish weapons in the Gulf: The Arab world turns to Ankara for defense.

While the United States government and defense companies face long-term delivery delays and a massive backlog of orders for their clients, Gulf and Arab countries are signing consecutive agreements to invest in and procure Turkish-made weaponry.

According to a report by Middle East Eye, the US-Israel conflict with Iran, which has been ongoing since late February, has placed heavy pressure on Gulf countries, particularly Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Although these nations possess effective air defense systems against ballistic missiles, they are experiencing serious challenges due to ammunition shortages and Iranian-made long-range drones that have successfully destroyed long-range radar systems in the region.
