Tue, 11 Aug 2009 09:34:03 GMT

Vietnam has for the first time launched an annual "Orange Day" to remember the victims of chemical weapons used by the US during the Vietnam War.

The Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) held ceremonies Monday across the country to bring to light the troubles of millions of people who were victims of barbaric chemical warfare used by the United States during the war.

"This day was chosen because the US first sprayed chemicals in southern Vietnam on August 10, 1961," AFP quoted VAVA official Dao Van Tam as saying.
