Earlier in August 2009, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Oman signed a security agreement. The agreement was inked by former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Omani counterpart Yusuf Ben Alawi here in Tehran and during a visit to Iran by Omani King Qaboos bin Said al-Said.
Later in August 2010, Iran and Oman signed an agreement to further boost mutual cooperation in the field of defense.
