Suspected suicide attack kills at least nine police officers in southwestern Pakistan

Quetta, Pakistan (CNN) — At least nine police officers were killed and 11 others injured in a suspected suicide blast in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province on Monday, authorities said, the latest in a string of recent attacks against security personnel in the South Asian nation. [...] The Tehreek e Jihad Pakistan (TJP), a newly formed militant group, later claimed responsibility for the blast. A statement from TJP sent to CNN confirmed that the group was formed on February 23 in order to “establish an Islamic system in Pakistan” through the use of “armed Jihad.”
