India's state-owned shipyard, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), has launched a landing craft utility (LCU) Mk IV vessel on order for the Indian Navy, the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 12 March.

The vessel, which was launched in Kolkata on the same day, is the sixth of eight amphibious landing craft ordered under an INR21 billion (USD313 million) contract signed in September 2011 between GRSE and the Indian Navy. The first LCU was launched in March 2014 and is undergoing sea trials.
