Lockheed sees F/A-22 production costs going down

MARIETTA, Ga, May 19 (Reuters) - Lockheed Martin Corp. says it is cutting production costs of its embattled F/A-22 fighter jet, that deliveries are accelerating, and the stealthy jet should ace operational tests now underway that could lead to full production in December.
"At this juncture, the program is healthy, it's solid and it's moving forth with all the right vital signs," Ralph Heath, F/A-22 program manager told reporters at the company's Marietta, Georgia plant on Tuesday, as he defended the F/A-22 or "Raptor" against new moves in Congress to reduce funding.
