For the third year running, frontline fighters of the Indian Air Force faced off with F-16 jets during a joint exercise with the Singapore Air Force that began today at Kalaikunda airbase in West Bengal.
The IAF has fielded its Mig-27 and upgraded MiG-21 Bisons agaist the Singapore jets for the annual bilateral joint exercise, officials here said.
The force had earlier used frontline jets like the Sukhoi- 30, Mirage 2000 and other fighters against F-16s -- the mainstay of Pakistan's fighter fleet -- during earlier exercises with the US Air Force, Thai Air Force and Singapore Air Force.

Singapore's armed forces have reached an agreement with India for holding air exercises for their fighter planes and training army personnel for tank and artillery warfare in Indian bases.
