Iraqi Turkmen Threaten to Block Kerkuk Referendum

Iraqi Turkmen Front Chairman Sadettin Ergec demanded a UN-observed census and a peaceful normalization process; otherwise, they would block the Kerkuk (Kirkuk) referendum slated for 2007 that will determine the city’s final status.

Seven Iraqi Turkmen deputies affiliated with different political parties and sects came to Istanbul and Ankara several days ago to express their viewpoint to different organizations.
