ABU DHABI [MENL] -- In a move that could raise regional tension, Kuwait plans to explore for natural gas in an area claimed by Iran.
Energy Undersecretary Issa Al Oun said Kuwait would explore in the offshore Dorra field claimed by Iran. Al Oun said the sheikdom would begin exploration in coordination with Saudi Arabia in undisputed parts of Dorra. In 2000, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia signed an accord to share offshore fields, disputed by Iran since the 1960s.
