Turkish electronics and systems company Aselsan launched two new remote-controlled weapon stations at IDEF - the Stinger launching system and the STAbilised Machine gun Platform (STAMP) - and picked up a significant order.

The Defence Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE), affiliated to Turkey's Scientific and Technical Research Board (TUBITAK) under the prime minister's office carried out its first public tests of Toros rockets in early 2000. SAGE aims to have the Toros rockets ready by 2010 - the year that Turkey's unguided Chinese rockets will be phased out.
