PARIS [MENL] -- Turkey has been awarded a contract to produce components for the U.S. Joint Strike Fighter.
Two Turkish companies have been awarded a contract to manufacture critical components for the JSF's F135 propulsion system. The companies were identified as Al Aviation and KaleKalip and the value of the contracts were not reported.
Pratt & Whitney, culminating a six-month selection process, announced the award during the Paris Air Show. Pratt signed letters of intent with Alp Aviation and KaleKalip on Tuesday.
"Pratt & Whitney is committed to growing international participation in the F135 program by identifying best value sourcing opportunities in JSF partner nations," P&W president Louis Chenevert said. "Today, Alp Aviation and KaleKalip join more than 35 companies in the eight JSF partner nations who will come together to produce the F135 propulsion system."
