Businesswomen face no barriers in Iran

LONDON, April 30 (IranMania) - Head of Women’s Council based at Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Fatemeh Shabani said Iran boasts many young, professional and talented women and the council is working hard to give them a chance to pursue their careers at the regional and international levels.

According to Fars News Agency, Shabani made the remarks in a meeting with wife of the Lord Mayor of London Michael Berry Savory.

“We intend to allow women to assert a yet stronger presence in the social, economic and cultural arenas,“ she said, adding that today, women make up 60% of educated population in Iran.

Iran-Turkey trade to double: Turkish official

LONDON, April 23 (IranMania) - A senior Turkish diplomat said on Friday that the value of bilateral trade would rise from the current $2 bln and 800 mln a year to an annual $5 bln by 2006.

According to ISNA, Volkan Berker, Turkey’s business attache in Tehran, said the huge increase in the bilateral trade cooperation is expected to come following the conclusion of several agreements recently between the two countries.

Bozkurt Aran further said that some 600,000 Iranian nationals visit Turkey’s tourist attractions each year, adding that Turkish visitors number 200,000.
