U.S. defense company L-3 Communications has sold a 60 percent stake in the Turkish military software company Aydin Yazilim ve Elektronik A.S., or Ayesas, company officials have said.
They said a deal was penned March 16 for the sale of shares to Turkey’s top exporter, Istanbul-based Vestel. No price was revealed for the sale.
Vestel is one of Turkey’s top business conglomerates, with businesses ranging from home appliances and hardware production to banking.
L-3 Communications had purchased the 60 percent stake in September from Turkish construction company Metis “with the aim of selling it to another Turkish company, an Ayesas source said. L-3 Communications still owns the remaining 40 percent shares in Ayesas, which the U.S. company acquired in the mid-1990s
