Iran unveils torpedo missile

Tehran, Feb 12 - The Islamic Republic of Iran has built first torpedo with high destructive power, after the Muslim nation unveiled its maden midjet in 2004.
The high-speed torpedo is built by the Islamic Republic, taking Iran's strategic status quo and regional threats targetting Iran, so that the "enemies" fail to spot the missile, Defense Minister Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said Saturday.
The torpedo can be launched from boats and submarines, Shamkhani said, but it also has the capability to be fired from helicopters.
Shamkhani added that the Defence Ministry has designed the torpedo according to the depth of Iranian waters and the needs of armed forces.
