Zitat:BERLIN, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The German government is considering bringing forward a planned order for four new frigates, originally intended to enter service in 2015, in order to boost the German shipbuilding industry, a government spokesman said on Wednesday.
The defence ministry is considering whether it would be possible to bring forward the order, estimated in media reports at 2 billion euros ($2.40 billion), following a request from the shipbuilding industry, the spokesman said.
No firm talks on price or conditions were taking place, he said.
The request comes as Germany's main naval shipbuilding groups, ThyssenKrupp AG TKAG.DE and Kiel-based HDW, prepare to merge in a possible prelude to a broader tie-up with French peers such as DCN and Thales Naval France to create a naval equivalent of the European aerospace group EADS. EAD.PA .(...)
