Fighters Scrap Over Singapore Order
Three manufacturers competing to supply Singapore's next fighter are due to deliver detailed proposals just after Asian Aerospace 2004. In October 2003 Singapore narrowed the list of candidates to the Boeing F-15T, Dassault Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon.
Singapore is looking to spend about $1-2 billion for about 20 long-range, multi-role fighters, with an initial order likely to comprise eight firm orders and 12 options. A win could eventually result in around 40 new aircraft— although some observers believe this may climb to 60 or more.
The winner is expected to be announced early in 2005, according to Defense Minister Teo Chee Mean.
