Die UN ist nur eine Institution mit so viel Macht, wie man ihr gibt und das ist zur Zeit verdammt wenig oder sollte man sagen keine?! Das die UN relativ machtlos ist, liegt also nicht an der UN selber.
Die UN gehört nicht abgeschafft sondern reformiert und gestärkt.

Noch mehr Macht fuer den Unmoralischen kaum demokratischen Haufen? - nein danke.
ist auch ziemlich unrealistisch das da Staaten die sich ned ausstehn koennen udn wo jeder Mitglied ist bereit sind wirkliche macht/Souveraenitaet an die Un abzutreten. Ist auch schwierig demokratischen Staaten zu erkaleren das sie sich Mehrheitsentscheidungen der UN beugen muessten wenn mehrheit der repräsentierten Staaten undemokratisch sind
(2/3 der Mitgliedstaaten sind diktatorisch - sprich die UN hat fuer mich jedenfalls keinen Anspruch auf Legitimitaet.)

Scheint ja als wärst du ganz heiß auf nen neuen Weltkrieg Merowig.

Wie schon gesagt UN kann keinen Weltkrieg verhindern wenn man auf einen aus ist. Konnt der Völkerbund auch nicht.

TAIPEI - The SARS virus, which ravaged the Asia-Pacific last year, has re-emerged in China. This time, it originated from one of Beijing's leading laboratories, following the pattern of two isolated cases in Singapore and Taiwan last year. However, unlike those previous incidents, it has already spread outside the laboratory, necessitating the quarantine of hundreds of people and tragically causing at least one death.

One other important lesson is that Taiwan must also be allowed to participate fully in the international monitoring and information networks led by the WHO. Unfortunately, this lesson remains unlearned.

At the time of the initial SARS outbreak, the WHO refused Taiwan's requests for information, and its calls went unanswered during the crucial first few weeks, during which there was a window of opportunity to contain the outbreak. Only after the situation in Taiwan deteriorated dramatically in late April did the WHO send its first experts to the territory.
