The former Vosper Thornycroft, which makes just 20% of its sales from warship building, is producing key parts of the new Type 45 destroyers at its new £60m yard in Portsmouth. BAE is the lead contractor on the £6bn programme.
Paul Lester, chief executive, who has expanded the group's services business, is expected to say VT has no interest in taking over BAE's nuclear-powered submarine yard at Barrow when he sets out annual results at the top end of expectations.
