Ich muss dir widersprechen, woher willst du wissen das der M1A2 eine bessere Panzerung hat? Ich weiß zwar nichts genaues, habe aber immer wieder gehört, dass der Challenger 2 die beste Panzerung der westlichen Panzer besitzt.#

The Challenger 2 is the best protected tank in NATO (10) incorporating Chobham second-generation armour plating.

On 25th March a Challenger 2 from C Sqn, Queen’s Queen's Royal Lancers (part of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Battle Group) has got the turret and glacis severely damaged when another Challenger 2 attached to the Black Watch Battle Group mistakenly engaged it in the middle of s series of night contacts with Iraqi forces along the Shatt-al-Basra canal. The driver and tank
commander were killed, but the gunner and loader while seriously injured are recovering.

Other improvements were made to Challenger 2 beyond dust mitigation measures. Its thermal signature was reduced and it was up-armoured, improving immeasurably the troops' confidence in the tank's survivability - a confidence justified by one Challenger 2 withstanding 8 Rocket Propelled Grenades in an encounter with Iraqi troops.
