The Spanish government has approved the purchase of 45 HÜRJET jet trainers and light attack aircraft, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ). The decision was announced during a Cabinet meeting, highlighting Spain’s goal to modernize its air force and enhance pilot training capabilities for combat and attack operations.
The contract, valued at €3.12 billion, replaces Spain’s aging AE.09 (F5) jets with a complete Integrated Training System (ITS-C) designed to ensure pilots are fully prepared for complex security scenarios. The agreement will remain in effect until November 30, 2035, without an extension option.
Long-Term Operational Plan
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028, with the first aircraft entering the 2029/2030 training courses. HÜRJET jets are expected to serve in Spanish operations for at least 30 years, providing long-term capabilities for both the Air and Space Forces.
