TÜBİTAK BİLGEM’s IŞIK Laser Weapon Passes Acceptance Tests
IŞIK laser weapon with 20 kW power, developed jointly by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and ASELSAN, completed its critical acceptance tests at Kırıkkale Testing Grounds.
The laser weapon’s test footage includes a kill test against a 3 mm thick steel plate at 20 m/s and a dazzling test against a UAV camera. The laser weapon can perform hard-kill at 1.5 km while the dazzling range is rated as five kilometres. TÜBİTAK BİLGEM stated that the laser weapon can be integrated on ground and naval platforms.
Compared to the mobile GÖKBERK, which has the baseline variant for 6x6 trucks and a lighter one for 4x4 tactical vehicles, IŞIK is larger and has a more powerful laser source.
Other laser weapons from Turkiye include ROKETSAN’s ALKA coupling a laser weapon with coaxial jammers, and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM’s JARMOL mobile laser weapon for the Turkish Gendarmerie.
