The Houthis are claiming an attack on a Dutch cargo ship that resulted in a fire and left two crew members injured.
The Yemen-based group used a cruise missile to attack M/V Minervagracht, a ship managed by Dutch company Spliethoff, while it was in the Gulf of Aden, Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Sare’e posted on X late Tuesday.
Spliethoff confirmed the Houthi attack, reporting that the ship caught fire and the crew was evacuated by helicopter to nearby vessels, where the two injured mariners received first aid. The company is working with international authorities and towage experts to secure the ship, according to a company statement. At the time of the attack, the ship was sailing eastbound from Djibouti, Africa. The ship was not carrying any cargo, according to the company.
