WANA, Pakistan — Fighting between Pakistani troops and suspected Al Qaeda (search) militants ebbed Sunday as tribal elders said they would try to negotiate an end to the largest battle yet against suspected terrorists along the Afghan frontier.

Three of them, described as key local JI members, were jailed for six years, while the others received sentences of five and three years.
