PHILIPPINES

• The Philippine navy still has a submarine component at its sight … already established a “submarine office” to start the “decade-long process” of acquisition, eventually hoping for three (at least two) boats.

• Deputy navy chief reaffirmed plans to purchase two frigates (South Korea, Spain, and France bidding), three patrol boats (Taiwan?) and two naval helicopters (Indonesia or Italy) … needed to strengthen capabilities in disputed (with China) South China Sea waters.
