Black Sea Fleet missile cruiser MOSKVA now in the Philippine Sea … rendezvous with Pacific Fleet destroyer ADMIRAL VINOGRADOV for joint exercises.
(rmks: the destroyer together with tanker ILIM and salvage tug SORUM MB-37 had departed Vladivostok in late Oct for a “long-range tour” of the Asian Pacific region).

• Update: Russian embassy in Australia explains presence of a Pacific Fleet task group with missile cruiser VARYAG in the Coral Sea off Australia … ships are “testing their range capability, in case they have to do climate change research in the Antarctic” (rmks: probably ridiculing media allegations) … additionally, if necessary, provide security for President Putin during G20 … to monitor Russian force, Australian navy deployed frigates PARRAMATTA and STUART, tanker SIRIUS, and AP-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft; frigate SYDNEY in stand-by … PARRAMATTA conducted “friendly communication exercise” with YARYAG.
