Ecuador to open embassy in Palestine

Ecuador's Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino announced that the Andean country will open an embassy in Palestine, local media Andes Agency reported Tuesday.

"Ecuador has decided to open an embassy In Palestine and we already have a diplomatic mission in Ramallah, heart of Palestine, " the foreign minister wrote in his Twitter account.

"Palestine is living in tragic and difficult times. It is the moral obligation of the world to end the massacre in Gaza and to promote a lasting peace with justice," said Patino.

Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has called Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip "disproportionate" that have left 1,867 Palestinians dead and 9,500 wounded, including 408 children and 214 women.
