Iran's Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia [...] reiterated the need for the country to cut its dependence on oil exports.

He went on to say that dependency on oil revenues not only has reduced efficiency and productivity in the economy to the lowest level but has weakened taxation system adding the role the government playing as a rent distributor comes from the incorrect long prevailing economic structure.

The government should replace oil revenues with incomes from daily activities in the economy and collection of clean tax revenues resulting from the people’s works, Tayyebnia said adding the ministry’s strategy will be focused on diversification of income resources, cutting dependency on oil revenues through rising production capacity in the country, generating wealth, boosting tax income and generally establishment of a comprehensive taxation system.
