Arms transfers to insurgents in Syria must stop: Larijani

Iran’s Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani has called for the cessation of arms transfers to the insurgents in Syria by foreign elements as a key step towards the implementation of democratic reforms in Syria.

“The transfer of weapons to Syria should be stopped; reforms cannot be implemented amid armed confrontations. A package must be introduced for the Syrian issues,” said Larijani at a Friday ceremony in the northern Iranian city of Amol.

Iran calls for the fulfillment of popular demands and the deepening of democracy in Syria, he added.
