Update: commenting reports that the LADA class (Project 677) submarine program has been cancelled, the design bureau claims the 2nd and 3rd boats won’t be scrapped but “modernized, based on the experience with type boat ST. PETERBURG” … respective work on KRONSHTADT and SEVASTPOL already begun to be completed “after 2013”. No word that such modifications also apply to ST. PETERBURG.

Navy commander Admiral Vysotsky arrives at the Northern Fleet for a “working visit” until 26 Nov … inspect task group with aircraft carrier ADMIRAL KUZNETSOV (rmks: see below, SYRIA) ahead of its upcoming deployment to the Atlantic and Mediterranean, scheduled to commence “in December” … also to be briefed on trials of new submarines (YURY DOLGORUKIY, ALEKSANDER NEVSKIY, SEVERODVINSK).
