The Indian government has set a tight schedule for the state-owned shipyard Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL) for the delivery of six diesel-electric SCORPENE class submarines to the Indian Navy. MDL has been asked to deliver one submarine every six months starting August 2015. All the six have to be commissioned by September 2018.
(rmks: Wow! This „order“ certainly will end all problems).

Russian Rosoboronexport has informed India that the Yantar shipyard will not be able to honour scheduled delivery dates for three Project 11356 (modified TALWAR class) frigates. TEG (planned Apr 11) now 12 months later, TARKASH (planned Oct 11) 11 months later, TRIKAND (planned Apr 12) 14 months later. Indian MoD gives reasons as “lack of qualified shipyard personnel” and “Russian subcontractors failing to meet deadlines”.

A contract was signed with Rosoboronexport, Russia in 2006 for acquisition of three Talwar Class follow-on ships and the delivery schedule for these three ships was April 2011, October 2011 and April 2012. Rosoboronexport has intimated that the delivery of the ships would be delayed as follows: 1st Ship - 12 months, 2nd Ship - 11 months and 3rd Ship - 14 months.

Two major cases of shipbuilding projects with Rosoboronexport, Russia namely, Gorshkov and Talwar Class follow-on ships have been delayed.

Das russische Schiffbauwerk „Jantar“ kann die drei Küstenschutzschiffe des Projekts 11356 nur mit durchschnittlich einem Jahr Verspätung an die indische Kriegsmarine liefern.

Die Fregatten des Projekts 11356 sind für die Suche und Vernichtung von U-Booten, die Schiffs- und U-Boot-Abwehr sowie den Schutz vor Luftangriffsmitteln bestimmt. Die Schiffe sind 125 Meter lang und 15 Meter breit, haben eine Wasserverdrängung von 4000 Tonnen und eine Seeausdauer von 5000 Meilen. Die Besatzung dieser Schiffe besteht aus 220 Mann.
