Commander of the Army’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said the structure and organization of the ground forces will undergo changes.
Speaking in Tehran he said one of the main concerns of the ground forces was the implementation of the reform plan as approved by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Presstv reported on Friday.
“To cope with the new conditions on the global scene and the military threats emerging, it was necessary to undertake changes in the structure, organization and composition of the ground forces,” he said.
The structural overhaul would, among other things, enable the military to deal effectively with possible threats.
“We have considered building new military bases in the east, southeast and southern flanks of the country and intend to complete the work within the Five-Year Economic Development Program,” he was quoted as saying.
