Iranian cineastes’ visit to Hollywood will help promotion of national cinema: Asgarpur

TEHRAN -- The managing director of Iran’s House of Cinema believes that Iranian cineastes’ visit to Hollywood will be helpful in promotion of Iranian cinema in the country and as well as around the world.

“The visit is a bridge to establish relations as well to exchange views in various fields such as in technology,” Mohammad-Mehdi Asgarpur told the Persian service of IRNA in telephone interview on Saturday.

Asgarpur, along with a delegation, consisting of several top Iranian cineastes, are currently in Los Angeles by invitation of the UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In March 2009, a Hollywood delegation led by Sid Ganis, the then president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, visited Iran by invitation of the House of Cinema.

Larijani criticizes double standard policies in campaign against terrorism

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani criticized double standard policies of some countries in campaign against terrorism.

Meeting with the Head of the Austria’s National Council Defense Commission Peter Fitschen Bauer in Tehran Larijani asserted challenges and crises of the region must be settled by regional countries.

Also Bauer underlined his trip to Iran was aimed at facilitating steps towards promotion of bilateral relations and called for increasing ties with Iran as an influential country.

Referring to Nabucco gas pipeline project he added, Austria has an independent stance in this regard and believes that without Iran the project cannot exist.

Kasaeizadeh then pointed out to Total's delay in implementing the plan of development of the phase 11 of the gas field and Iran's agreement with China's CNPC signed in June to expand the upstream sector and said "foreign partners on LNG plans wanted upstream and midstream sectors work simultaneously, in such a case we had to wait for a long time to finalize the agreements."

He also declared France's Total has said it is ready to join CNPC to develop Phase 11 of South Pars gas field.
