Probe of S.C. chopper crash under way

(CNN) — The National Transportation Safety Board said Saturday it is investigating the fatal crash Friday night of a medical emergency services helicopter near Georgetown, South Carolina.

All three people aboard the Eurocopter AS-350 B2 (N417AE) helicopter were killed when it crashed about 11:30 p.m. ET — two hours after dropping off a patient in Charleston, the NTSB said in a written statement. The crash came a day after the NTSB recommended that the Federal Aviation Administration beef up training for pilots of medical helicopters and require the installation of flight data recorders aboard aircraft.
