Ottoman dream of the AKP deputy




A Konya deputy from the ruling party has suggested a new way to promote the Turkish Armed Forces: soldiers dressed in Ottoman clothes taking part in symbolic ceremonies held during the empire’s reign.

Big cities are suggested to hold events such as the “Cülus Ceremony,” a celebration of the accession of the chosen sultan’s son to the throne, and “Cuma Selamlığı,” which is the Friday divine service parade, according to Justice and Development Party, or AKP, deputy Mustafa Kabakçı, who came up with the proposal.
