Demnächst wird sich wohl auch ein recht illustres Konsortium an einer Nabucco-Konkurrenz versuchen:

Iran is now looking at an alternate route for a pipeline to deliver Iranian gas to Syria and Europe, according to Iranian Minister of Petroleum Gholamhossein Nozari, who last week met in Damascus with his Syrian counterpart Sufian 'Alaw. Mr Nozari said that the proposed pipeline would run from Iran’s southern gas network to Iraq, and cross into Syria to reach a Mediterranean export terminal, which would supply countries like Greece and Italy in Europe, without giving further details.

The partners in the project are Syria’s Homs Refinery Company (15%), Petroleus de Venezuela (33%), National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (26%) and Malaysia’s Petrofield Refining Company (26%). These have already set up a company which is to oversee the construction of the project (MEES , 22 September 2008).
