Israeli police return fire, kill Palestinian woman

GAZA CITY, Gaza (CNN) -- A Palestinian woman opened fire Saturday on Israeli border police in southern Israel before they shot and killed her, an Israeli spokesman said. Moshe Fintzy, a border police spokesman, said the woman approached the entrance of the border guards' base and was not allowed to enter. She then opened fire, and the border police responded, Fintzy said.

The incident occurred near Beer Sheva, in southern Israel.
