STM Holds Steel Cutting for Portugal’s Logistics Ships TurDef
The steel cutting ceremony for the two Auxiliary Oiler Replenishers and Logistics Ships (AOR+) to be built for the Portuguese Navy by STM was held in Istanbul.

Roughly a year after the awarding of the contract to the STM at the end of the tender, STM has commenced the construction of two AOR+ logistics support ships.

The export of STM’s logistic support ship marks the first export of a major naval platform to an EU and NATO member.

STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz, speaking at the ceremony, stated that the keel laying for the first ship will take place in January 2026 and both ships will be delivered to the Portuguese Navy by 2028.

CES İleri Kompozit Provides Armour Parts for Wahash 8x8 TurDef
Turkish CES İleri Kompozit has signed a deal with the UAE-based firm Calidus to provide spall liners and pontoons for the Wahash 8x8 armoured fighting vehicle.

CES İleri Kompozit and Calidus have signed an agreement for cooperation on the Wahash 8x8 amphibious armoured vehicle during the Dubai Airshow 2025. The cooperation covers the production of spall liners and pontoons for Wahash by CES Kompozit.

Spall liners hold an importance, especially for armoured personnel carriers. An additional layer of composite material applied inside the vehicle holds the spreading of the armour fragments (Spalling), which occur upon armour penetration.

Wahash 8x8 Among Platforms for KORKUT SPAAG
Wahash 8x8 is the first foreign platform to have the KORKUT 35 mm air defence system. Wahash 8x8 with KORKUT was first seen during the IDEX2025 defence exhibition, and firing tests, including the radar/command vehicle, were performed in 2024. ASELSAN designates this UAE variant for KORKUT as KORKUT 141/35.

Dearsan Launches MAC 50 Fast Attack Craft for Qatari Navy TurDef
Turkish shipbuilder Dearsan announced on 17 November 2025 on social media that it has successfully launched the first of two MAC 50 missile attack craft being built for the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. The vessels are an extended and modernised variant of Dearsan’s original 43-metre FAC design, lengthened to 50 metres at Qatar’s request to integrate additional combat systems and mission capabilities.

The platform has Roketsan ÇAKIR anti-ship missiles and Roketsan Sungur surface-to-air missiles on board. The primary gun is a Leonardo 40 mm, and there are also two Aselsan STAMP remote weapon stations and two manually controlled 12.7 mm machine guns. It has a full set of sensors for littoral and open-sea operations, including an Aselsan MAR-D air and surface surveillance radar, an LPI navigation radar, an electro-optical sensor, and an electronic support measures system.

After the launch, Dearsan will continue building the second ship according to the anticipated timeline while also equipping the first ship. After outfitting, the MAC 50s will undergo sea trials initially in Türkiye and later in Qatar before their formal induction into the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces.
