Bundeswehr selects Rohde & Schwarz for major digital radio programme

Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) has officially been named as the chosen vendor for the German Bundeswehr's major Combat Net Radio (CNR) programme, the company announced on 7 December.

In December 2022 the Bundeswehr signed a multibillion-euro contract with an unnamed company for the supply of CNRs for the military's tanks, combat vehicles, and trucks under the wider Digitisation of Land-Based Operations (D-LBO) programme. R&S was widely purported to have been selected for the CNR (often referred to as the digital radio programme); however, Thales lodged a complaint against the selection process, delaying the announcement.

It is believed that approximately EUR 2.9 billion (USD 3.1 billion) has been earmarked for the procurement of over 30,000 radios under the CNR programme.

Rohde & Schwarz and ELT to supply EW systems for F124 and Miecznick frigates [...]

In a major development for the defense industry, Rohde & Schwarz has selected ELT Group to provide components for EW for the German Navy’s F124 class frigates and the Polish Navy’s new Miecznick class multirole frigates. [...] Rohde & Schwarz was recently commissioned to supply and integrate systems for communications, radar electronic support measures and radar countermeasures (C-ESM/R-ESM/R-ECM) from the R&S KORA family for the three F124 Sachsen class frigates, and communications and radar electronic support measures (C-ESM/R-ESM) for the three Miecznick multi-role frigates. The system enhances situational awareness and strengthens early warning capabilities and the self-protection of the ships.
