MARLIN USV, developed by ASELSAN and Sefine Shipyards, has demonstrated its capability to autonomously detect and identify drifting mines with optics.
In addition to the recent UAV-USV teaming demonstration for the hard-kill of drifting mines which paired MARLIN with STM's UAVs, the USV has demonstrated its onboard detection and identification capabilities supported by AI, during the Innovation Continuum 2025 SHINE event held by NATO.
The demonstration included MARLIN's autonomous detection and identification of a drifting mine, supported by deep learning according to Anadolu Agency News' report.
Drifting mines in the Black Sea, due to their numbers and unpredictable routes, are regarded as a significant threat to civilian ships in the Black Sea.

Türkiye’s ULAQ USV enters naval service with local engine TurDef
Türkiye’s unmanned surface vehicle (USV) programme reached a key milestone as the ULAQ officially entered service with the Turkish Naval Forces. The ULAQ product family is widely recognised as the platform that first introduced Türkiye to the USV concept, transforming the idea of unmanned naval warfare from a theoretical discussion into an operational capability.
ULAQ was the first system through which the armed USV concept was demonstrated in Türkiye as a weaponised, sensor-equipped and network-enabled naval platform. In doing so, it laid the foundations of Türkiye’s unmanned maritime doctrine and opened the way for subsequent naval unmanned systems.
The ULAQ 12 ASuW/ASW variant that was provided is made for both anti-surface warfare (ASuW) and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) missions. In the function of anti-surface warfare, ULAQ is set up to find, follow, and attack surface threats using a built-in sensor-to-shooter chain. The platform has a remote-controlled weapon station that can fire either a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine gun. This lets it combat quick assault craft, small boats, and unmanned surface threats at short and medium ranges. A high-resolution electro-optic sensor helps in target detection, identification, and fire control which performs day and night. For higher-value or longer-range surface targets, ULAQ can be outfitted with a surface-to-surface missile system. This expands its engagement envelope beyond cannon range and allows for stand-off strikes. With this setup, ULAQ may perform ASuW tasks on autonomously or as part of a networked force with manned surface combatants. These missions can include port and coastal defence, escort, forward screening, and interdiction.

MARLIN ASW 100 Joins MARLIN USV Family as Sonar Carrier
ASELSAN published details on the new member of the MARLIN USV family, MARLIN ASW 100, developed to carry different types of sonars to support ASW missions.
The upcoming variant of MARLIN USV shares the same hull as the previously tested MARLIN 100 ASWLT, which can launch two to four lightweight torpedoes (Mk46, Mk54 and the upcoming ORKA from ROKETSAN).
Whereas MARLIN 100 ASWLT is the shooter, MARLIN ASW 100 is the sensor with a crane to carry and deploy different types of sonars. Two sonar types have been listed as the dipping sonar and the diver detection sonar. MARLIN ASW was also shown to have a provision for the DÜFAS 100-CU towed sonar.

ULAQ Global Opens New Ankara Office in Bilkent Cyberpark TurDef
ULAQ Global, known for the ULAQ line of unmanned surface vessels as Turkiye’s first line, announced its new Ankara Office, located in Bilkent Cyberpark.
The new office of ULAQ Global is a new hub to expand the engineering and business development capabilities of the firm. Launched as a joint venture of ARES Shipyard and METEKSAN towards 2020, ULAQ has officially evolved into an independent company as ULAQ Global as of July 2025.
The new office in Ankara is located at Bilkent Cyberpark, which the Bilkent University and Bilkent Holding co-founded. Bilkent Cyberpark also houses offices for the other Turkish defence firms, supporting design, R&D, and management activities for the industry.
ULAQ Global, shortly after the delivery of the first ULAQ 12 USV to the Turkish Navy, has entered the export market with the ULAQ PSV sale to Qatar for coast guard use. The firm is also exploring business development opportunities, focusing on the Gulf region for joint development and production.

DATUM, founded in İTÜ, completed the unmanned deep diving function tests for its ÇAMD multi-purpose mini submarine, which was displayed at SAHA EXPO 2026.
DATUM, the new player in Türkiye in the field of submarines with its family of mini submarines, completed a deep diving function test without an onboard crew.
DATUM, based in İstanbul Technical University (İTÜ), also displayed ÇAMD and other submarine types, including the SİNARİT XLUUV, at SAHA EXPO 2026.
ÇAMD is the first Turkish-designed submarine to be built and classified by the Turkish Lloyd. The submarine has been built in cooperation with the SEFİNE Shipyard, which hosted the final assembly. At the same time, other Turkish firms, such as Yakut Kazan (Pressure Hull), FEMSAN (DC Motor), and Eriş Propellers (Propeller), contributed with component manufacturing.

Zitat:DATUM Introduces Strike-Capable Sinarit XLUUV
At SAHA Expo 2026, Turkish submarine technologies company DATUM placed its Sinarit concept at the center of its presentation, using the event to outline a modular extra-large uncrewed underwater vehicle (XLUUV) intended for a wide range of payloads and mission sets.
According to the company’s press release, Sinarit is based on experience gained through DATUM’s mini-submarine work and is designed as a modular uncrewed platform that can be transported in a standard truck container and airlifted by A400M. DATUM says the vehicle can house 3.8-metre payload sections, allowing it to be configured for different roles depending on mission requirements.
The company presented Sinarit primarily as a payload carrier rather than a fixed single-role vehicle. In the configuration list released for SAHA Expo, DATUM referred to options including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance payloads, mine warfare modules, mine countermeasures packages, torpedo armament, and strike-oriented payloads. The latter included concept images and descriptions showing the use of missile and loitering munition-type modules, which is why Sinarit was positioned in DATUM’s presentation as a strike-capable XLUUV rather than only an underwater transport platform.

During the defense industry exhibition organized as part of the EFES 2026 Exercise, the moment Greek military personnel inspected the KILIÇ kamikaze autonomous subsurface vehicle drew significant attention.
Hosted by Türkiye as a multinational event between April 11 and May 21, 2026, the EFES 2026 Exercise succeeded in attracting global attention, not only through its military maneuvers but also with the indigenous and national technologies showcased at the concurrently organized defense industry exhibition. One of the most talked-about moments of the exhibition was when Greek military personnel participating in the exercise visited the ASELSAN booth to closely examine KILIÇ, Türkiye’s first autonomous kamikaze subsurface vehicle.
Emerging as an asymmetric force multiplier amid the changing security dynamics of the Sea of Islands (Aegean Sea) and the Eastern Mediterranean, KILIÇ was inspected with great attention by Greek officers. This moment formed a symbolic frame vividly demonstrating the level of deterrence achieved by the Turkish defense industry and how closely it is monitored by regional actors.
